The Ship

Pellucidar is a Moody 47. She was built in Southampton, UK in late 2001 and sold into the Seattle area sometime in 2002. We get a lot of questions regarding her name. “Pellucidar” was an imaginary hollow earth created by Tarzan author, Edgar Rice Burroughs for a series of books. In one of the later books he introduces Tarzan. We don’t know for sure but think the previous owners named her for adventure. She was very well cared for but did not have the opportunity to really stretch her legs for the first 13 years of her life. In December of 2015 we purchased Pellucidar from a broker in Seattle and moved her up to Port Gardner Bay in Everett, WA. She went through an extensive refit and her lazy days of hanging out at the dock were about to change forever.

In 2014 we made a trip to Costa Rica that would change our path for the foreseeable future. I wanted to move to Costa Rica, the Admiral said we are not moving… but cruising could be in our future. This is our story…
