Eagle Harbor was the official start to Milltown Sailing’s South Sound Tour. Sorry I am a bit behind but cell service has been very spotty!
After motoring our way to Eagle Harbor due to no wind, it picked up nicely just as we were ready to anchor. We dropped the hook next to our friends, Dale and Edith, on Cielo Sin Fin, their beautiful Baba 30. The rest of our group trickled in one by one and found berths at Winslow Warf. We dinghied in, visited for a while and decided we needed some refreshment. By the time we had gotten settled most of the shops were closed so the next best thing is eating and drinking! We soon were seated at the Public House overlooking the marina. We started with four but soon our group grew to 8. We spent a lot of the afternoon visiting and solidifying plans for the rest of the week. Of course some sailing stories got mixed into the conversation along the way. The decor was fun and we had a mixture of adult beverages and appetizers. I spotted the clam chowder. At $18.00 for a bowl I figured it had to be amazing or I could feel a Yelp review stirring…… This is something you need on your bucket list if you are a clam chowder fan. It will get a Yelp review but a very positive one!
We heard several people talking about this creamery up town. Before transiting back to the boat, we took a short walk up town in search of “Mora” Ice Cream. This was about 8:00pm. When we arrived, the line was out the door and around the corner! It moved fairly quickly and soon We were enjoying a very creamy, chocolate / french vanilla waffle cone. Linda enjoyed their espresso / peanut butter chocolate.
Yup, another must stop if you ever visit the island. Tomorrow we continue our pilgrimage South to Gig Harbor.
